The Department of Labor (DOL) fosters and promotes the welfare of the job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for profitable employment, protecting their retirement and health care benefits, helping employers find workers, strengthening free collective bargaining, and tracking changes in employment, prices, and other national economic measurements. In carrying out this mission, the Department administers a variety of Federal labor laws including those that guarantee workers’ rights to safe and healthful working conditions; a minimum hourly wage and overtime pay; freedom from employment discrimination; unemployment insurance; and other income support.

The American Labor Studies Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to collect, analyze, evaluate, create and disseminate labor history and labor studies curricula and related materials, aligned to the various state and national standards, to kindergarten through 12th grade teachers nationwide. They will include such areas as the history, organization, activities, and issues affecting the labor movement and the political, economic, and cultural aspects of workers and their unions.

There are several components to The Workers' Rights Law Center's (WRLC) work. First, the Center's staff provides free legal services to low-wage workers struggling to enforce their rights in the workplace. Second, the Center contributes to the empowerment of workers by educating workers about their labor and civil rights. The WRLC seeks to work collaboratively with local labor unions, workers' groups, and other community groups to protect the rights of workers in the region.

The Fiscal Policy Institute (FPI) is a nonpartisan research and education organization that focuses on the broad range of tax, budget, economic and related public policy issues that affect the quality of life and the economic well-being of New York State residents. Founded in 1991, FPI's work is intended to further the development and implementation of public policies that create a strong economy in which prosperity is broadly shared by all New Yorkers.

Founded in 1987, Jobs with Justice's mission is to improve working people's standard of living, fight for job security, and protect workers' right to organize. JwJ's core belief is that in order to be successful, workers' rights struggles have to be part of a larger campaign for economic and social justice. To that end, JwJ has created a network of local coalitions that connect labor, faith-based, community, and student organizations to work together on workplace and community social justice campaigns.

Museum Village is a living history museum committed to the exploration, interpretation, and preservation of 19th century life. Museum Village is located at 1010 Route 17M Monroe. Members are urged to come and explore the many buildings and grounds where you can hear the sounds, taste the food and perform the tasks of life as it was in the 19th century.

Citizen Action of New York is a statewide membership organization founded in 1983. We have individual members and are a coalition of labor, senior citizen, women's, student, tenant and community organizations that works with community activists for social and economic justice. We fight for quality affordable health care for all, jobs that pay living wages with decent benefits, expanded Medicare coverage for seniors that includes prescription drugs, strong investment in public education and after-school programs, campaign finance reform, an end to corporate tax loopholes and tax breaks for the wealthy, and consumer protections.

Across New York State and the country a growing movement is bringing workers and their supporters in unions, religious institutions and youth groups together in efforts to challenge corporate control and to move toward greater economic justice. Specifically, workers, trade unionists, people of faith and young people are uniting to fight sweatshop conditions at home and abroad and to end child labor. They also are actively leading campaigns that call upon municipalities to require that those doing business with government pay living wages.

The mission of Quality Care NY is to improve the quality of care for individuals with developmental disabilities and the quality of work life for the workers who provide that care. Quality Care NY believes that children and adults with developmental disabilities deserve the highest quality of care and services that can be provided. Quality care begins with making sure the people who provide that care, direct care workers, are treated with fairness and respect.
